What payments options are available for accepting payments on my website?

You may choose one or more of the following options already supported by your website;

A. Credit Cards – Real-time payments via eWAY

  1. This is the easiest and the most seamless solution for your customers paying with credit cards
  2. Your customers stay on your site for making payments and receive instant payment confirmation
  3. Your website supports the eWAY (CVN XML) solution and once eWAY is setup it takes just a few minutes to set it up on your site
  4. More information on eWAY including costs are available on www.eway.com.au
  5. If you have any questions about setting up Internet merchant accounts with your bank, eWAY can guide you with the process and requirements

B. PayPal – PayPal Account & Credit Cards via PayPal

  1. PayPal is a flexible solution that caters to many users worldwide that pay using their PayPal accounts
  2. Credit card payments can also be accepted through PayPal if you choose to provide this option
  3. Your website supports the PayPal Website Payments Standard solution
  4. This option results in customers leaving your website during the checkout process to go the PayPal’s website for payment
  5. Users are then returned to your website once the transaction has been completed
  6. This is a longer process for your customers.
  7. Also, if customer close the PayPal window during or straight after payment without returning to the site then we cannot verify the transaction
  8. More information on PayPal including costs is available here.
  9. If you wish to setup the PayPal solution, please let us know and we will send you instructions for setting up PayPal with your website

C. Direct Transfer – Electronic Funds Transfer via online banking

  1. You can give customers the ability to pay directly into your bank account from their bank accounts
  2. The biggest difference compared to the above two options is that this is NOT a real-time payment
  3. It means that your website cannot confirm that a payment has been made successfully when an order is submitted
  4. You will need manually verify if payment has been received in order to process an order in your website
  5. Your website gives you the ability to enable this option in the shopping settings area
  6. You can enter your banking details that need to be displayed during checkout including any other instructions or information

D. Cheque

  1. You can give customers the ability to pay using cheques
  2. This is an offline payment option
  3. So you will need to manually verify if a cheque has been successfully banked in order to process an order
  4. Your website gives you the ability to enter instructions for this payment option

E. Custom Method

  1. This option gives you the ability to define a different offline payment method that you support
  2. This is typically an option to pay an “Invoice” or “Cash on Delivery or Pick Up”, etc.
  3. Again, the website cannot verify such payments so you will need to manually verify payments for such orders in your website
  4. Your website gives you the ability to create a customised title and description / instructions for this payment option

The process of setting up payment options such as eWAY or PayPal can take from a few days to a few weeks depending on your circumstances. We suggest selecting a payment method and starting the process for these solutions as soon as possible so that there are no hold-ups when your site is ready to go live or when you are ready to start selling online.
