Modify Cart Settings
The Shopping Cart Settings allow you to manage the way you want your shopping cart to function.
This guide will show you how to Modify your Cart Settings in your Shopping Options.
 |
If you are selling products, services, memberships, programs etc on your website, you may need to Modify your Cart Settings. |
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Login to your administration website
- Select Shopping from the Main Menu
- Select Settings
- Select Cart Settings - refer to screenshot
A. Default behaviour when adding a shopping product to the shopping cart
 |
By default, the system is setup so that when a customer adds a product it takes them to the view cart page. You are able to change this setting so that when a customer adds a product they remain on the same page. |
- Select the (+) icon next to Default behaviour when adding a shopping product to the shopping cart
- 'Add product then go to shopping cart', is selected by default.
- Select 'Add product but stay on the same page', to change to this option - refer to screenshot
B. Cookie settings
- Note: can only be edited when inventory control is enabled - refer to screenshot
- Select the (+) icon next to Cookie settings
- Select how many hours you want the cookie to expire in from the drop down box
 |
Browser cookies are created on the user’s computer when they use the shopping cart feature of your website. This helps in tracking what items are being added to the basket.
The default cookie expiry is set to 24 hours to “refresh” the users shopping cart to ensure no old items or data is saved. However, for shopping cart sites with Inventory Control enabled, a shorter cookie expiry is required to ensure that out of stock items are not being added.
The option to adjust Shopping Cart Cookie expiry becomes active when inventory control is enabled.
You can then use the drop-down to select how many hours you want the cookie to expire in.
|
C. Use shopping cart as
 |
Your shopping cart can be setup as a standard retail cart or a tool for customers to request quotes for items only, it cannot be both. |
- Select the (+) icon next to Use shopping cart as - refer to screenshot
- Select 'A standard retail cart' to sell products to your customers via your website
- Select 'A tool for customers to request quotes for items only' so customers can request quotes on your products, but not purchase them via your website.
D. Notification settings
- Select the (+) icon next to Notification settings
i. Select to Enable admin order notifications based on products ordered
 |
This option overrides the shopping order notifications setup in the Manage Admin area.
This option gives you the ability to setup different admin notifications based on the products. E.g. Product A notification goes to Tom, Product B notification goes to Harry.
Please Note: If there are other products ordered in the same transaction then the administrator will see the details of the other products ordered irrespective of whether or not they are selected to be notified.
Important: To complete the setup you will need to ensure you have an administrator allocated for each product, otherwise the delivery of the order notifications emails will fail.
|
ii. Select to Include unique order id in admin order notifications
 |
This option when enabled includes the system generated order id within the admin order notification email.
|
E. Checkout Button Behaviour
- Select the (+) icon next to Checkout Button Behaviour
- Select to Enable Must login in order to Checkout
 |
Enabling this option will give you the ability to prompt your customers to login or join the website before they can proceed with the order.
This action is triggered when the customer presses the Checkout button in the View Cart screen.
The customer is then presented with a login screen along with information you specify in Default System Pages > Login Page Additional Information
This option can help in ensuring that all customers are members of the website and have their details stored within the client area of your website.
Please Note: This will also add a significant number of steps for first time customers of the site who want to purchase items.
|
F. View Cart Behaviour
- Select the (+) icon next to View Cart Behaviour
i. Select to Enable Don't link to product from view cart
 |
When you enable this option, a customer will not be able to click back to the products from the listings in the View Cart page. This option works well if your website has forms that add products to cart upon submission. |
ii. Select to Enable Hide shipping for checkout
 |
Enable Hide shipping for checkout if you do not charge any shipping for your products. |
