How do I take a screenshot?

You may be asked to provide your account manager of a screen shot of an error you are seeing, or you could use the screen shot to illustrate changes for your designer.

Step-by-Step Instructions

A. Microsoft Windows

  1. Press Print Screen
    1. Print Screen may appear differently on your keyboard, see screen shots below for variations
  2. Open Paint from the Start menu
  3. Press Ctrl + V to paste the screen shot
  4. Click File
  5. Select Save
  6. Insert title
Before saving, you can use the paint tools to crop the image, draw, outline areas, insert text etc. to help assist your account manager or designer.

 

You can also paste the screenshot into other programs.
E.g. Word document or directly into an email program.
To do this, open the program that you want to paste the screen shot into and press Ctrl + V

B. Mac

  1. Press Command+Shift+4
  2. Click and drag your mouse to highlight the area of your screen shot
  3. Release your mouse
  4. Locate your screenshot on your desktop.
  1. This will be saved as "screenshot" with the date and time.
  2. Earlier versions of OS X will save as "Picture #"
You can attach the screen shot image to an email, or drag into an application e.g. word processor.
