How do I test my payment arrangements?
The best way to test your payment arrangements is to submit an order yourself through your public site to see how the user experience works and whether or not your payment arrangements are set up correctly.
Note: You may not be able to test real time payment options like PayPal or eWAY if your website is not live or if your merchant account is not in the live environment.
- In order to test your payment setup you may first setup a $1 test product as a hidden product in your shopping cart.
- Preview this product from the admin site to go to it directly in the Public site.
- Add this product to the cart and then checkout.
- Complete the checkout form and place the order.
If your order is successful a payment confirmation message will be displayed in the checkout page and you will receive a notification of the order via email.
If the payment is unsuccessful then you will either get a message in the checkout page or you will get an error screen. You will need to review the instructions provided to you for the shopping cart setup to ensure you have completed this correctly. You will also need to check to make sure you have entered credit card / PayPal account details correctly and not closed the checkout screen prematurely.
