What are landing pages and how are they used?

Landing pages are specific website pages geared at eliciting a specific action from a page visitor – the call to action is usually a download, an enquiry or contact form or a purchase of some sort.  This page is specially tailored to reflect your relevant brand and then lead, motivate or persuade the site visitor to act.

A visit to a landing page works much the same as a visit to your store or office – the idea is to convert the visitor into a genuine sales lead and prospective customer. The fantastic thing about landing pages is that they are ready for new leads 24/7, if your pay per click (PPC) campaign says so.

Also, any landing page visitor is already looking for exactly what you are selling so it should be easier to convert into a customer than an in-store visitor who wanders into your store unsure about what they are after and equally unsure about whether or not you have it!

Visitors are directed to your optimised landing page through pay-per-click (PPC) advertisements such as Google Adwords after searching a key phrase or related search term that your Adwords campaign is targeting.
